Aloe vera has been known for centuries for its healing properties. You can use it both externally and internally. Products containing aloe vera can be found in a variety of forms, including liquids, capsules, powders, gels, creams, etc. What are the effects and uses of aloe vera?

Better skin care

Aloe vera is well-known and commonly used in traditional medicine as a skin treatment. It is popular in ayurvedic, allopathic and homeopathic medicine. As a skin-care product, aloe vera helps the skin to heal properly and also makes it smoother and well-nourished. In addition, this plant is an effective acne remedy. It not only helps to improve the appearance of the skin, but also speeds up the healing of skin lesions. If your face (or any other part of your body) is covered with blackheads and other imperfections, try aloe vera at night.

Aloe vera has a wide range of properties and uses, so it can also be used for hair care: when applied to the scalp, aloe vera can soothe inflammation; when it reaches the hair follicles, it helps hair grow faster and stronger.

Treatment of burns

Due to its soothing properties, aloe vera can also be used to aid the healing process of minor burns. Some scientists say that it works even better than a cream with silver sulfadiazine! Sometimes, aloe vera also helps prevent scarring. So, if you have burned your skin (i.e. while cooking) and your doctor says it is safe to use aloe vera, give it a shot. With the help of this plant, the healing process will be much faster!

For better digestion

As mentioned earlier, aloe vera can be used not only externally but also internally. In the latter case, it helps in digestive problems. According to some researchers, it can also be used as an aid in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Before you try, make sure that the purchased product is intended for internal use!

Side effects

While aloe vera is safe for most people, it has potential side effects. Although they are rather rare, it is important to know that oral use of aloe vera can cause kidney problems, diarrhoea, muscle weakness, low potassium, electrolyte imbalance, abdominal pain and nausea. It is strongly recommended that you avoid taking aloe vera internally during pregnancy, breastfeeding, before any surgery, or if you suffer from any of the following conditions: heart problems, diabetes, haemorrhoids, kidney problems, Crohn’s disease, intestinal obstruction or ulcerative colitis.
